Yesterday evening I was given the opportunity to attend the Hennessy Artistry Night that was held at the Orange Club located at Jalan Kia Peng, Kuala Lumpur. Before that, my utmost thanks to Wasabi for inviting me to tag along as papparazzi for the event. The theme of the night was black thus many of the photographers showed up wearing black or dark colored apparel. As for me, an affordable black vest from Kamdar matched to a white vintage Conran shirt and a hand-me-down black slack completed my paps look. Funnily enough, nobody mistook me for a hotel concierge.
First off, permit me to introduce you to the lovely Hennessy Girls. Above you can see two of them who are tasked to take instant photographs of the incoming guests. Using Fujifilm Instax 200 cameras, guests would be asked to step up to pose in front of the Hennessy banner, as seen in the background, and the resulting picture would be given to them as souvenirs. A lovely concept and even lovelier photographers...
...but one or two had the inevitable task of standing guard over the Hennessy bottles that was displayed on the reception counters set-up just outside the club entrance. As for me, it would pose a great dilemma to me if I was ever confronted with a choice of either going off with the girl or the bottle. Sigh.
"Pam. Hot. Steam. Camera lens fogging up..." Pamela Chong of Amazing Race Asia Season 2, also host for the Hennessy Artistry Night and an alluring and sexy lady as well. Did I mention it was a hot and humid night then and there as well? Someone get me a drink, quick.
The beautiful Pam interviewing one of the foreign acts bought in to Malaysia for the express purpose of the Hennessy Artistry Night.
The security detail of the Orange Club. Liked the matching red ties and armbands concept here. Makes them look ultra-cool. They are definitely way ahead better dressed than those bush jacket wearing UTK bodyguards I have seen moving about with the Prime Minister's entourage.
The hot and humid night did not deter guests from patiently lining up to get their tickets into the club.

By this point of time, I would not be wrong if I had had made the presumption that half of the most loveliest, most alluring, and most photogenic ladies of Kuala Lumpur turned up that night. The first two photographs, out of the three shown above, shows model talents from Beyond. And most unfortunately for me, all of them were taller than moi. Without high heels.
At last! I managed to wriggle my way into the club after more than two hours of sweating it out outside. A few words to a kind Orange Club employee on the dangers of dehydration and possibility of collapsing immediately secured me an ingress into Orange. With little difficulty, I located the bar, and with that was promptly introduced to Shanghai and Miami. And that without having to book through Air Asia! After downing one or two, I circulated amongst the party-goers for snapshots of happy and beautiful people...

...now, these three guys here knew what fashion is all about. Especially the guy in the middle with his tie casually slung about his neck akin a cravat. Now, this dude really knows how to pull off that look. Cheers, gentlemen!
An Orange Club bartender deftly executes his mixing of Shanghais for subsequent distribution to the growing crowd in the club. By now, I lost count of the number of Miamis and Shanghais I imbibed, but suffice to say, it was definitely way beyond ten, because as you can see from this blurry photograph, it had seriously impaired the functionality of my camera. Strange.
So here I am at Orange Club snapping away like a papparrazzi. Oh, pass me another drink, would ya? It was great night and a cool event. Thanks to Hennessy and Orange Club for sponsoring thirsty photographers and also for inviting very beautiful people for us to photograph. I would like to extend my personal thanks to Fishee for driving me back home, without which, I might have ended up with a one-way ride on the KTM Seremban line.
